Overview

We are looking for experienced Geotechnical Drillers (Geohazard Mitigation Technician Level 3, GMT3)  to join our team. As a GMT3  working for GSI, there is no typical day and the scenery changes often. You will be working outside with your hands in a wide variety of climates. On one project you may be working on a slope installing a retaining wall and the next project you could be stabilizing a bridge. This is the perfect career for someone that does not want to work in a traditional setting like a warehouse or office. This is a career opportunity with significant advancement depending on your personal effort and willingness to learn our business. Heavy travel is required for this role.

Qualifications

Basic Qualifications:

  • At least one year soil stabilization or geohazard mitigation experience required
  • Heavy equipment operation experience
  • Prior concrete or shotcrete experience
  • Drilling experience
  • Ability to travel extensively
  • Reliability and a strong work ethic
  • Ability to get along with a diverse group of people

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Class A CDL
  • Nozzleman certification (ACI Certification)
  • CSTS (Construction Safety Training Systems) Certification
  • WHMIS (Workplace Hazardous Materials Information System) Certification
  • Ground Disturbance Level 1 or 2

 

Work Environment

The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job.  

  • Climates vary in degrees, in tropical to desert environments.
  • The noise level in the work environment is moderate and hearing protection is often required.
  • Exposure to characteristic construction site dangers.
  • Regular heavy lifting (75lbs+) of construction materials on the job site.

Travel: 100% travelling in the Western Canada. Employees are expected to work a 3 weeks on, 1 week off schedule. 

 

Compensation$31-$38 CAD per hour.

Responsibilities

  • Operate rock drills (Cammachio, KIemm, Casagrande, Fraste)
  • Operate construction equipment such as excavator, all terrain forklifts, man lifts, skid steers, and front end loaders
  • Reading and determining measurements
  • Maintain a clean and organized construction site
  • Work together in a team environment
  • Mix, spray, run hoses, and operate shotcrete or grouting pumps
